Track SEO and content costs

Track SEO, content, and agency costs as a marketing cost so they count toward your real profit.

Updated June 30, 2026

SEO and content costs are tracked as a marketing cost on the Marketing page, with the Type set to SEO (or Content / tools). They roll up under Marketing in your profit numbers. This is available on the Pro plan and up.

Steps

  1. Open Cost rules, then Marketing (/app/costs/marketing). The old SEO link sends you here too.
  2. Click Add marketing cost.
  3. Set Type to SEO, or to Content / tools for content production and tools.
  4. Name the cost, for example "SEO agency" or "Blog writer".
  5. Choose Per month or Per order and enter the amount.
  6. Under "Applies to", pick Online Store only, POS only, or Shared across channels, then click Add cost.
  7. Open the cost later to set month-by-month amounts if your SEO spend changes from one month to the next.

What you should see

The SEO cost appears in the Marketing costs list and is included under Marketing on your dashboard and in your reports.

Tip

The app compares your monthly SEO spend against the profit from organic (unpaid search) orders, so you can see whether your SEO is paying for itself.
