Fixing missing costs
Missing product costs are the top reason profit looks too high. Here is how to find and fill them from the Data quality page.
Updated June 30, 2026
If profit looks too good to be true, missing product costs are almost always why. A sale with no recorded cost is counted as pure profit, which lifts your numbers above reality. The Data quality page is where you find and fix these gaps.
Steps
- Open Data quality (/app/data-quality).
- Look at what is flagged - missing product costs, unusual cost outliers, and excluded products - and the profit affected by each.
- Click a gap to go straight to where you fix it, usually your product costs.
- Enter the missing costs, or set a cost rule to fill many at once.
- Save.
What you should see
After the app recalculates, the affected products are no longer flagged, your coverage rises, and your data quality score goes up. Your profit numbers settle to a realistic level.
Tip
Work top-down by profit affected. Fixing the few products behind the most sales improves your numbers far faster than chasing every long-tail item.
