Free shipping optimizer report

Find the free-shipping threshold that makes the most profit, modeled from your own orders, margins, and carrier costs, with profit compared across every candidate threshold.

Updated July 8, 2026

This report models which free-shipping threshold makes the most profit - using your own orders, margins, and carrier costs to compare expected order value, conversion, and net profit at each candidate threshold - and marks the one expected to make the most.

What it shows

  • Your current free shipping: what free shipping costs you now (the carrier cost on orders that actually shipped free), the share of orders that would ship free under the policy you set, and your POS orders, which are always free. A breakdown shows how orders qualify for free shipping.
  • Where your orders land: a histogram of order subtotals against your free-shipping line, so you can see how many orders sit just below it.
  • Profit by threshold: a table of candidate thresholds with, for each one, the expected average order value, the modeled conversion change, the shipping profit and loss, the net profit, and the profit difference versus your current threshold. The recommended threshold is marked "Best" and your current one is marked "Current".
  • Assumptions you can adjust: whether you offer free shipping, your current threshold, the shipping you charge below it, the margin on added items, how often near-threshold orders add an item, how close counts as near, and an optional conversion impact. Changing these updates the table live.

Filters and options

  • Date range picker, set to the last 90 days by default.
  • Save or reset your assumptions.
  • Schedule report: email it weekly, monthly, or quarterly with the data attached as a CSV.
  • Export data: download the report as a CSV (Business plan).

How to read it

The "Best" row is the threshold the model expects to make the most profit, and the "vs current" column shows how much more profit that would be over this window. Tune the assumptions to match your store before you trust the pick.

Frequently asked questions

What free shipping threshold should I set?

The profit-by-threshold table models expected order value, conversion change, shipping profit and loss, and net profit for each candidate threshold from your own orders, then marks the threshold expected to make the most profit.

How much is free shipping costing me now?

The current free shipping card shows the carrier cost on orders that actually shipped free, plus the share of orders that ship free under your policy.

Should I offer free shipping at all?

One of the assumptions is whether you offer free shipping; toggling it and the other inputs updates the modeled profit table live, so you can compare offering it against not.
