Product profit report
Per-product profit, margin, return rate, and break-even ROAS, plus an Edit costs mode to fill in what each product costs you.
Updated July 8, 2026
This report shows how each product performs on profit - net profit, margin, and return rate per product - and gives you a place to fill in missing costs so those numbers are accurate. It has two modes you switch between at the top: Performance and Edit costs.
What it shows
In Performance mode, each row is one product with its quantity sold, revenue, net profit, margin, and a data quality badge. Click a product for a quick view with vendor, type, revenue, product cost, gross profit, net profit, return rate, break-even ROAS, and units returned, plus a button to open its full details. You can also switch on columns for SKU, return rate, and break-even ROAS.
In Edit costs mode, each row is a variant where you type what it costs you. Costs you set here are saved in this app only and do not change your Shopify product catalog. Each row shows the selling price, an editable cost field, and a badge for whether the cost is set or still missing. For the full walkthrough, see add product costs.
Filters and options
- Performance saved views (tabs): All products, Below break-even, Missing cost data, High volume (top 25%), and Low margin (under 10%).
- Performance search, plus sort by revenue, net profit, profit margin, or quantity sold.
- Performance filters: vendor, product type, and margin band (negative under 0%, low under 10%, high 40% and up).
- Customize columns in Performance mode.
- Edit costs tabs: All variants, Missing cost, and By order (one row per sold order line). Search by product, variant, or SKU.
- Edit costs sorting: missing cost first, by product name, or by cost. The By order tab can filter by cost status (missing cost or cost set).
- Bulk cost editing: tick several variants, type one cost, click Apply to selected, then Save. You can also edit single rows and Save.
How to read it
Use Performance mode to find which products make or lose money, and the "Below break-even" view to spot products whose margin is too thin to advertise. When a product shows "Missing cost", switch to Edit costs to fill it in so its profit becomes accurate - see how profit is calculated for what that changes. For in-stock products that are not selling at all, use the products not selling report.
