Set payment processing fees
Tell the app what each payment provider charges so processing fees are subtracted from every order.
Updated June 30, 2026
Tell the app what your payment providers charge so it subtracts the processing fee from each order. The app lists the providers it has seen on your orders so you can set a fee for each.
Steps
- Open Cost rules, then Payments (/app/costs/payments).
- Look at the provider cards. Shopify Payments shows "Exact (Shopify)" because it uses the exact fee Shopify reports, so it needs no setup.
- For another provider, click its card. Some show a "Use suggested rate" button that fills a common rate in one click.
- Enter the Percentage fee (of the order subtotal) and the Flat fee per order. Add a Monthly fee, a billing date, and a Minimum fee per order if they apply.
- Click Save.
- To charge a different rate for one card brand, such as Amex, open the provider and set a Card-specific override - it wins over the default for that brand.
- To add a provider that has no orders yet, use Add payment method.
What you should see
Each provider card shows its transactions, the revenue processed, and whether a fee is set. Cash, gift card, and manual or bank-transfer methods show "No fee" because they carry no processing cost. Your orders recalculate with the fees you entered.
Tip
The per-order fee is the percentage of the order amount plus the flat fee, with the minimum fee used as a floor if that sum comes out lower. A monthly fee is counted as a business cost rather than charged to each order.
