Inventory profit health report

Turn your stock and sales into a reorder and markdown plan, with a margin-versus-sell-through matrix, markdown risk, cash and buying guidance, size curves, and a price simulator.

Updated July 8, 2026

This report turns your stock and sales into a buying and markdown plan, with tabs for a margin-versus-sell-through matrix, markdown risk, cash and reorder guidance, size curves, and a price simulator.

What it shows

  • Matrix: a four-quadrant view of margin against sell-through, sorting your stock into best sellers, margin traps, cash cows, and dead stock.
  • Markdown risk: which stock is at risk of needing a discount to clear, with an expected final margin estimate.
  • Cash and buying: cash you can recover from stock and open-to-buy (reorder) guidance, by vendor.
  • Sizes: size-curve profitability, so you can see which sizes sell through and which get picked over.
  • Price simulator: model a price change on a product and see the expected effect.

Banners flag common data issues: no stock on hand, a date range too short for steady numbers, products missing a cost, and products with a cost set far higher than their price.

Filters and options

  • Date range picker, set to the last 90 days by default.
  • Location scope, for stores with more than one location.
  • Filters by vendor and product type.
  • Report settings: the thresholds for high margin and fast sell-through (leave blank to split at the median), the full-price tolerance, a default sales response for the simulator, the weeks-of-cover level that flags a reorder, and the expected markdown by how long stock would last.
  • Schedule report: email it weekly, monthly, or quarterly with the data attached as a CSV.
  • Export data: download the report as a CSV.

When to use it

Use it to decide what to reorder, what to discount now, and what to clear. Start on the Matrix tab to see where each product sits, then use Markdown risk and Cash and buying to act. For the total value of everything you hold, see the inventory value report; to compare suppliers by the profit they leave you, see the vendor profit report.

Which products are dead stock?

The Matrix tab sorts your stock into best sellers, margin traps, cash cows, and dead stock by comparing margin against sell-through.
