Core concepts

Exclude vs ignore a product

Two product settings that sound alike but do different things: ignore in recommendations keeps a product in your books, exclude from profit removes it entirely.

Updated June 30, 2026

Some things you sell are not really products you make a margin on - store bags, packaging, gift wrap, a free gift, or refund or shipping protection. The app has two different settings for handling them, and they are easy to mix up.

Ignore in recommendations

This keeps the product in your books. Its revenue and cost still count toward your profit, so your numbers stay accurate. What changes is that the product is left out of bundle and basket suggestions, the products-not-selling report, and the missing-cost warnings. Use this for operational add-ons that should not clutter your product advice.

Exclude from profit

This removes the product entirely. Both its revenue and its cost are taken out of your profit calculation, as if it was never sold. Use this only when a "product" is not a real sale at all.

Which should I use

For almost everything, choose ignore in recommendations - it keeps your profit honest while tidying up your suggestions. Only reach for exclude from profit when the item should not be in your sales numbers at all.

You can set either one on the product's own page, or from the Data quality page.
