What Easy Stock Buffer does

Easy Stock Buffer stops selling a product once its stock reaches a safety threshold you set, blocking checkout on Shopify's servers so you never oversell your buffer.

Updated July 22, 2026

Easy Stock Buffer keeps a safety buffer of stock you never sell. You set a threshold - the minimum units you want to keep on hand - and when a shopper tries to buy the units that would drop stock below it, checkout is blocked. The block runs on Shopify's servers through a cart validation function, so it holds on every checkout path and needs no theme code.

What it does

  • Blocks checkout for any line that would push a variant below its threshold.
  • Lets you set a threshold per variant, or one shop-wide default for everything.
  • Sends you a low-stock email when a variant reaches its threshold (up to 10 alerts a month on Free).
  • Shows an at-risk count on the dashboard so you can see what is close to its buffer.

What Pro adds

  • Unlimited variants with thresholds and unlimited alerts with daily, weekly, or monthly digests.
  • Bulk thresholds by collection, tag, or product type, per-location thresholds, and CSV import.
  • Auto-hide for sold-out products, a storefront stock display, suggested thresholds from your sales rate, and a protection report.

When to use it

Use Easy Stock Buffer whenever running out of a product is worse than turning away the last sale - to hold back display stock, protect wholesale or subscription commitments, or keep a minimum on hand while you reorder. To understand exactly when a line is stopped, read how the checkout block works and how thresholds decide what gets blocked. New here? Start with the 5-minute setup.
