Easy Stock Buffer docs

Getting started

Quick setup: protect your stock in 5 minutes

Set a threshold on a product, then switch on Easy Stock Buffer in your Checkout settings. Two steps and overselling below your buffer stops.

Updated July 22, 2026

Getting a working stock buffer takes two steps: set a threshold on at least one product, then activate the checkout rule so Shopify enforces it. The app links to your store on install, so there is nothing to connect by hand.

Steps

  1. Open Thresholds (/app/thresholds), click Pick products, choose one or more products, enter a Threshold (the minimum stock to keep), and click Save threshold.
  2. Activate the checkout rule. On the dashboard, open the setup checklist step "Activate stock blocking in Checkout" and click Open Checkout settings, or go to Settings, then Checkout in your Shopify admin. Scroll to Checkout Rules, click Add rule, pick the Easy Stock Buffer validation, click Activate, then Save.
  3. Optional: set a Shop default threshold in Settings (/app/settings) so every product keeps a minimum even before you set individual thresholds.
  4. Optional: turn on low-stock alerts on the Alerts page (/app/alerts) so you get an email the moment a variant reaches its threshold.

What you should see

The setup checklist on the dashboard shows the checkout step complete, and the "Stock blocking is not active" warning disappears. The dashboard shows how many variants you are watching, and flags any that are already at or below their threshold. From then on, checkout is blocked for lines that would push a protected variant below its threshold.

Step 2 is the one that actually turns blocking on - see activate stock blocking in Checkout for the detail. For more ways to set thresholds, read set a threshold on a product.
