Thresholds

Set per-location thresholds

Keep a different minimum stock at each location. Easy Stock Buffer adds them up, or with strict counting stops selling as soon as any one location runs down to its threshold.

Updated July 22, 2026

Per-location thresholds (Pro) let you keep a different minimum stock at each Shopify location for one variant. Use them when stock is split across warehouses or stores and each place needs its own buffer.

Set per-location thresholds

  1. On the Thresholds page (/app/thresholds), the variant needs its own threshold first. Set one if it does not have it yet.
  2. Open the variant's Actions menu and choose Per-location thresholds.
  3. Enter the minimum stock to keep at each location. Leave a location blank to skip it.
  4. Click Save per-location thresholds. Use Clear per-location thresholds to go back to the single base threshold.

How the total is counted

Your default counting method is Sum: the variant's effective threshold becomes the sum of every per-location threshold you set, which protects your total commitment across locations. You can switch to Strict counting in Settings, where selling stops as soon as any single location with a threshold runs down to it. Choose the method in the Location counting section of Settings (/app/settings).

What you should see

The modal shows each location's current inventory and its threshold, plus the effective threshold for the variant. The Thresholds table Location column shows which locations have their own threshold.

Good to know

Per-location thresholds only apply to variants Shopify tracks at a location. The base threshold still governs the variant overall - see how thresholds decide what gets blocked. To set the base threshold, see set a threshold on a product. The Sum and Strict methods are described in the settings overview.
