Easy Stock Buffer docs

Getting started

Activate stock blocking in your Checkout settings

Easy Stock Buffer blocks oversells through a Shopify checkout rule you switch on once in Settings, then Checkout. Until you add the rule, checkout is not blocked.

Updated July 22, 2026

Easy Stock Buffer does its blocking with a Shopify cart validation, and Shopify does not switch that on automatically when you install an app. You add it once in your Checkout settings. Until you do, thresholds are saved but nothing is enforced and shoppers can still check out below your buffer.

Steps

  1. On the dashboard, open the setup step "Activate stock blocking in Checkout" and click Open Checkout settings. This deep-links to Settings, then Checkout in your Shopify admin.
  2. Scroll to the Checkout Rules section.
  3. Click Add rule.
  4. Pick the Easy Stock Buffer validation.
  5. Click Activate, then Save. It takes about 30 seconds.

What you should see

Back in the app, the dashboard "Stock blocking is not active" banner disappears and the setup checklist marks the step complete. The app re-checks this on every visit, so once the rule is live the reminder stays gone.

Good to know

There is only one rule to add - it covers every threshold you set, now and in future. You never touch this again unless you remove the app. If checkout is still not blocking after you add the rule, see why a product is still selling past its threshold. To understand what the rule does behind the scenes, read how the checkout block works.
