Group tickets, tables and claim links

Sell group tickets that issue several named tickets in one purchase, or table bundles where the buyer shares a claim link with each guest.

Updated September 24, 2026

Group tickets let one purchase create several tickets. A group size ticket issues every ticket to a named guest at checkout, while a bundle ticket, such as "Table of 10", gives the buyer claim links to hand out.

Which one to use

  • Group size suits families and friends buying together. The buyer enters every guest's details, or books all tickets under one name, and every ticket is live at once.
  • Bundle ticket suits tables and company packs. The buyer gets their own ticket plus one claim link per other seat, and each guest registers with their own name and email.

In both, every ticket has its own number, QR code and check-in. One purchase uses one unit of the type's Inventory and one spot of a shared pool, and counts once against a per-order limit. Every ticket in it counts toward your monthly ticket allowance.

Group size tickets

Set Group size on a ticket type in the Create event form, in the Add ticket type form on the Tickets tab, or in its Edit dialog. A type with Group size 4 creates four tickets per purchase, and its Inventory counts groups.

  • With the Ticket selector block on the product page, the type shows a "4 tickets" chip.
  • The attendee popup asks "Enter details for all 4 guests", with one section per ticket, unless the shopper books under one name.
  • After payment all four tickets are live, and the emails follow the event's delivery setting.
  • At the door each ticket checks in on its own. Rows from an order with several tickets show "Group of 4" and the order number.
  • Refunding one unit in Shopify refunds all four tickets.

Group size can't change once the type has sold tickets. Tickets from a group can be moved to another date or transferred one at a time.

Bundle tickets: tables and packs

Set up a bundle

  1. Open the event, click Event settings and stay on the Tickets tab.
  2. Click Add ticket type.
  3. Enter a Title such as "Table of 10", the price of the whole table, and the number of tables as Inventory.
  4. Turn on Bundle ticket and set Bundle size to 10. Leave Group size at 1.
  5. Click Add.

This form is the only place to make a bundle. The Create event form and the Edit dialog have no bundle setting, and an existing type can't become one. Ticket types and inventory covers the rest of the form.

Your store never shows how many tickets a bundle holds, so put the pack size in the title.

What happens after purchase

  1. When the popup collects attendee details, the buyer fills in one set per pack: their own.
  2. After payment the app creates 10 tickets. The buyer's ticket is live, and the other 9 are "Unclaimed".
  3. The buyer's confirmation email lists the 9 seats under "Share these claim links with your guests", each with a "Claim ticket" button.
  4. The buyer forwards the links to the guests.
  5. A guest opens a link and sees "Claim your ticket" with the event date and location. They type First name, Last name and Email address and click "Claim ticket".
  6. The seat becomes a live ticket in the guest's name, and the guest gets the normal confirmation email with their QR code.

The claim page appears in the language the buyer shopped in. For an online event, the join link appears only after the claim.

  • Claim links are in every first confirmation email for that order, to the buyer and to any other guest on it. Nothing in the app can resend, copy or show them, and Email ticket on the buyer's row sends only the buyer's own ticket.
  • A confirmation email built in the code editor with Edit code carries no claim links. Use a designed email for events that sell bundles.
  • Every first confirmation email for that order, to the buyer and to any other guest on it, carries the full list. Later resends carry none.
  • Links don't expire. They work until claimed, or until the pack is refunded or cancelled.
  • The first person to submit a name claims the seat, and a claim can't be undone.
  • The claim page asks only for name and email. Your attendee questions and the phone field are left out.
  • After the claim, the link shows "Already claimed" with the guest's name, so send each link to one guest only.
  • The buyer isn't told when a guest claims a seat.

Unclaimed seats

  • The Attendees tab shows them with an "Unclaimed" badge and no name or email.
  • They can't be checked in. The door says "This seat has not been claimed yet".
  • They can't be cancelled on their own or transferred, and you can't claim one for a guest. Editing its name and email leaves it unclaimed.
  • Bundle tickets can't move to another date. The app answers "Tickets bought as a group can't be moved one by one yet."
  • Refunding a pack in Shopify refunds the whole pack: the buyer's ticket and every seat, claimed or unclaimed. Its claim links then show "Claim unavailable".
  • Cancelling one claimed seat on the Attendees tab doesn't put a pack back on sale.

The buyer's ticket and claimed seats can be handed to someone else with a transfer link, like any ticket. See transfer a ticket or move it to another date.

The group guest list

The Orders tab shows each order as a group. Click the ticket count, such as "3 tickets", to see who booked it and every seat, including any "Unclaimed seat". The window is read-only, and actions live on the Attendees tab.

Print guest list opens a sheet for laying out tables. Each group gets a row with the booker and order number, the party size and the ticket types, plus a blank Table column to write in.

  • On a recurring event you print one date per sheet.
  • One sheet holds up to 2,000 guests.
  • Tickets added by hand, imported or from free registration are not orders. They are left off the Orders tab and print as single lines.

The guest list covers the Attendees tab.

Groups with free registration

Free registration works only with Group size 1 and no bundles. A guest can still register several free tickets at once, up to your per-order limit, or 10 when none is set, and never more than 50.

No Shopify order is created, so those tickets don't show as a group on the Orders tab or at the door. See free events and RSVP registration.

What groups and bundles don't do

  • No "buy 4, pay for 3" pricing. The price is per purchase.
  • No mixed packs, such as 2 adults and 2 children in one purchase.
  • No claim deadline, reminder or resend.
  • No Shopify Flow trigger when a guest claims a seat.
  • No table numbers stored in the app. The Table column is space to write in.
  • Class passes can't book group or bundle tickets.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a group size ticket and a bundle ticket?

A group size ticket issues every ticket at purchase, with the details the buyer types in. A bundle ticket gives the buyer one ticket plus a claim link for each other seat, and each guest registers themselves. Both end with one ticket per person, each with its own QR code.

Can I resend claim links to a buyer?

No. Claim links are in every first confirmation email for that order, to the buyer and to any other guest on it. Resending the buyer's ticket from the Attendees tab sends their own ticket without the links, so ask buyers to keep that email.

Do claim links expire?

No. A claim link works until a guest uses it, or until the pack is refunded or cancelled. It even works after the event.

Can an unclaimed seat be checked in?

No. The door answers "This seat has not been claimed yet". The guest has to claim the seat with the link first.
