What EU law asks for

Two different things often get talked about together. Only one of them is required.

Fibre composition is required

EU Regulation 1007/2011 says a textile product has to show what it is made of in a way that is easy to read, and that a shopper has to be able to see it clearly before they buy - including when they are buying online.

It also has to be in the language of the country you are selling into, which is why the app writes materials in your store's language and can add more.

The law does not say where on the page to put it. We put the Materials & Care block right next to your price because that is the surest way for a shopper to see it before they buy, rather than at the bottom of the page or behind a tab.

Care instructions are optional

Washing and drying instructions are not required by that regulation. The European Commission looked at making them mandatory and decided not to, because the voluntary standard already covers it.

So a product with no care instructions is still fine. Most merchants add them anyway because shoppers ask.
