Getting started with Easy Textile Labels

Easy Textile Labels puts what your products are made of on your product pages, right next to the price. Shoppers have to be able to see what an item is made of before they buy - EU law asks for that - and next to the price is the clearest place for it.

The three steps

1. Bring in your products. On Products, select Bring in products. We read your product list so we can show you which ones still need their materials. Nothing on your store changes.
2. Add the block to your product page. In your theme editor, open a product page, use Add block in the section that holds your price, and pick Materials & Care. Drag it just under the price, then save.
3. Fill in one product. Open a product, type what it is made of, and save. It goes on your store as soon as you save. That is one product covered.

The setup steps on the home page check themselves off as you finish each one. They check your store rather than asking you to confirm, so a step only turns green when it is really done. The block step is the one exception: it can only read your published theme, so if it stays red after you have added the block, select Mark as done.

What you see when it is working

The home page counts three things: Products, Materials filled in, and Still to do. Because saving puts a product on your store, everything counted under Materials filled in is already in front of shoppers.

When a product is held back - usually the number of products your plan shows, sometimes a product page that could not be updated - the product itself carries the reason at the top. A page that could not be updated also gets its own view on the Products list, Could not be shown, which appears only while there is something in it.
