Reorder product images in bulk
How to drag-and-drop image strips, bulk-move positions across many products, upload new images in bulk, and undo changes before saving.
Updated May 20, 2026
The Organizer is the most-used tool in Easy Image Organizer. This page covers every way to use it.
The basic flow
- Find the product you want to edit (search, filter, or scroll).
- Hover the image strip to reveal drag handles.
- Drag any image to a new position within the strip.
- The row gets an "Unsaved" badge. A sticky save bar appears at the bottom of the page showing the modified-product count.
- Click Save all changes.
Changes save in batches of 10 products at a time, with a progress bar across the top. For 100 modified products, expect a couple of minutes wall-clock.
Per-product actions
For each product row, the actions are:
- Drag any image - reorder within the strip.
- Click the delete icon on a thumbnail - mark that image for deletion on save.
- Click the trailing "+" tile - opens a file picker (or accepts a drop) to upload one or more new images.
- Click Undo under the product row - revert all unsaved changes for that row.
Multiple actions across the same product are all staged as one batch. You can reorder + delete + upload on the same product and save once.
Bulk move (the killer feature)
For "move position 3 to position 1 across these 50 products":
- Check the boxes on the products you want to bulk-edit.
- A blue Bulk move bar appears at the bottom.
- Pick the From position and To position.
- Click Apply.
- Every selected product gets the same move.
- Each affected row gets an "Unsaved" badge.
- Click Save all changes when you're done.
Bulk move respects each product's actual image count - if a product has fewer images than your From position, it's skipped silently.
Bulk upload
To add the same image (or images) to many products:
- Bulk-select products.
- Drag images onto any of the selected product rows' "+" tile, or use the bulk-upload control.
- The new images stage as additions on every selected product.
- Save.
Use case: a brand-new "size guide" image you want appended to every product in a collection.
Filters and search
Above the product list, the filter panel lets you narrow by:
- Status (Active, Draft, Archived).
- Vendor.
- Tags.
- Product type.
- Collection.
- SKU.
- Stock level.
- Image count (e.g. "products with fewer than 3 images").
- Image dimensions (e.g. "products whose images are below 1000 px").
- Alt text status (e.g. "products with missing alt text").
Combine filters to find very specific subsets. Example: "Active products in the Spring 2026 collection with fewer than 4 images and missing alt text". See Filters and search for the full filter reference.
Sorting
Sort options: Created at, Updated at, Title, Inventory total, Product type, Vendor. Each is available ascending or descending.
For bulk work, sort by Updated at descending so the most recently edited products are at the top - useful for resuming work after a session.
Saving
The sticky save bar at the bottom of the page shows:
- The number of modified products.
- A primary Save all changes button.
- A secondary Discard all changes button.
Save processes 10 products at a time. Progress shows across the top. On completion you'll see a toast: "All changes saved!"
Saves are individual API calls per product. If one product fails for some reason (rare), the rest still save. The failing one stays in the modified state so you can retry.
Edit counter (Free plan)
On Free, each reorder, delete, or upload ticks the monthly counter. The counter shows in the top right when you're approaching the cap. The 100-edit allowance resets on the first of each month.
Alt text and filename edits don't count - they're unlimited even on Free.
What's next
- Find duplicate images - the scanner that pairs naturally with reorder cleanup.
- Bulk alt text and filenames - SEO editing while you have everything in view.
Frequently asked questions
How many products can I edit at once?
The page paginates at 50 products per view. Save batches process 10 products at a time. There's no upper limit on total edits beyond your plan's monthly cap (100/month on Free, unlimited on Pro).
Can I undo a save?
Once you click Save, the change is in Shopify. Undo before saving works per product. After saving, you'd reorder back to the old positions and save again - there's no "rollback last save" button. Pro tip: use the per-product Undo before clicking Save All if you've changed your mind.
Does drag-and-drop work on mobile or tablet?
Touch drag-and-drop is supported on iPads and touchscreen laptops. On phones the interface still works but the small screen makes it tedious - the app is designed for desktop bulk work.
